I finally had some 35mm film processed from my trip to Mili Atoll. I feel like these shots sum up what one experiences in the Marshall Islands: clouds and waves! A watery world of wonder!
Thank you very much for those great pictures of Mili Atoll. Do you have more (pictures, stories, encounters) about this trip ? Did you pass between Tokowa and Barrh islands to enter and anchor in the "Port du Rhin" ? Did you meet anybody familiar with the island's history ? My personal interest lies in the disparition of a french whale-ship'crew, the "Angelina" from Le Havre, in december 1844, in this very atoll. I have collected many informations about this event in french archives ; for instance, the first drawing of the coast of the atoll in 1824 and it is very similar to your pictures. If you are interested I can send it to you. Thanks again Jean Hyenne from Paris, France mail : Java.hyenne@wanadoo.fr
